240km in and my body has decided that I need to stop so I can have a go at this crazy thing again when I’m healed and more importantly – ready.
Ready for take off & a Honey Competition!
With two more sleeps until the Bee Run starts, I’m frantically trying to make sure I have all my work finished, away messages set and necessities bought and packed.
Toenails, Records and Sponsorship
Well its been a hectic 3 weeks! I made a decision about the toenail, got some excellent tips about the run from the record holding Joe Ward and even became a sponsored ‘athlete ‘!
In the Podiatrist’s chair….
I didn’t think I’d ever have to decide about permanently removing my toe nail!
The Run starts 3rd of July!
With the RV booked and a start date picked it was time to go public with the idea. Here is the announcement I made via Facebook and Instagram…
S#$T just got real!!
Well the penny dropped today.
My parents (ie. support crew) just booked in a Motorhome for 3 weeks in July – meaning this epic adventure is now most definitely going full steam ahead!
Time to prepare something and let my all of my friends now – and try and round up some much needed support!
Stay tuned!
Perth and the first week of May
The first week of May couldn’t have run smoother in terms of my training. A couple of long runs along Perth’s beautiful coastline were followed by my first organised running catch up w Stefan and Kylie from the Perth Trail Runners facebook group.
This run was an out and back from the start of the Bibbulmun track in Kalamunda to Mandaring Weir. Starting just after sunrise we took off down a technical single track into the valley and through some beautiful Australian bush. The different shades of blue mountain contours on the horizon were breathtaking and i promised myself to come back for a multi day hike with Ola and the kids one day.

April Roundup and Plan Bee
April just flew by with the Mt Mee Classic as my longest run while my longest week was the last one in April hitting 88kms total.
This being the first week of May, the goal is to average 100kms with a long run planned each week… or where this isn’t possible, two medium length back to backs.
For me, first and foremost the run is as much about the physical challenge as a chance strengthen the bond with my parents.

A Rough Training Overview
To be able to average 60kms a day/420km per week I’m going to have to work on my base running ability.
Unfortunately I can’t afford the time to simulate anywhere near that in training, so I’m going to have to work on building my weekly mileage and hope that the excitement of the challenge carries me over the line.
Choosing The Way
Planning to run from Brisbane to Sydney is one thing, working out the way to run is another.
I’ve been able to make contact with Andrew Hedgeman who’s introduced me to an app called Mapmyrun in which you can specify your start and end point and an option to avoid any motorways (which is both unappealing and luckily not permitted) – perfect!
