In the Podiatrist’s chair….

I didn’t think I’d ever have to decide about permanently removing my toe nail!

In terms of the Bee Run – its been an incredible week! There’s been an outpouring of support with many kind-hearted people offering up their driveways and putting their hands up to join me for a few kms!

Both Ola (my wife) and I feel touched and incredibly humbled…. now to make good on my commitment!

In terms of my feet… it seems that last years dropping of a professional camera on my big left toe, and subsequent losing of said toe’s nail, has come back to bight me. I spent Friday morning in the podiatrist’s chair fixing up an ingrown toe nail. The sour news being that the camera drop caused a trauma to my nail that will likely cause future ingrown nail problems.

Ele, the podiatrist, delivered the verdict that due to the amount of running i have been (and plan to be) doing… removing the toe nail completely maybe be the least complex way forward.

I’ve been assured that I’ll be back to running within 7 to 10 days of the operation and could start using my indoor training bike – to maintain fitness – almost immediately post op.

Not something i’d usually rush into… but seems its time to make a decision and soon!
